The reason why we choose to set some of our music video here is to
have a wider diversity in locations so it wasn't all the same and the audience
would loss interest. Also because central London is a stereotypical
setting for love stories like 'Notting Hill' and 'Love Actually'.
Hopefully this setting will strength our concept because of what the
audience relates to Central London with the London eye and big Ben.
White brick wall
We
also choose a classic setting for the song as well, to draw attentions to
the main story and not what is happening out side of it. Also many pop
videos have a plain background.
The
idea for the video is good and is realistic to do. Some concerns about dance routine
with who will choreograph but sorted out as me and my partner will teach the
dancers.
A
problem with the matching outfits, concerns about money etc. but was sorted out
because all the actors in it can use a simple block colour, a staple of a wardrobe.
Overall good
feedback and I’m looking forward to filming and seeing if it meets
expectations.
Even though in our survey the majority
were male, however even though it would suit a male audience as well as a
female audience we have decided to stick targeting it to a female audience.

FEED BACK FROM SURVEY
The
highest favourite artist was Bruno Mars, this works well with our project
because our artist is Bruno Mars.
Storyline videos was the
highest chosen so we have decided to add a little stereotypical romantic story
to it. Also the second highest was 'Dancing Routines' and we are going to do a
dance routine in the song.
Casual
clothes was the highest, so we have decided to have a couple of scene that have
casual clothes in. The second highest was Matching outfits which we are going
to have.
The
results show that it is preferred for the main artist to be seen a lot so we
have made it to go with this.
The
first time watching Justin Timberlake’s video for his song 'Mirrors' I was very
confused as to what was happening. Over time the more I have seen it, the more
it makes sense. I think the angles and the story line are done very cleverly
and as you get use to the videos all the scenes link up together and makes
sense to create an emotional response. As they scenes going back to the
past and then to the future of a couple. Which would make the audience feel
like they know the couple in the video as they get to see their life. Also they
would feel sadness as one of them dies after all that shown in the video. It
gets the viewer involved as everyone falls in love at least once and everyone
grows old and dies. So they can relate it to their life. Which is why it won
the best music video of the year compared to all the rest because it can be
seen as hard hitting emotionally. Also the lighting is dim so it makes it
easier to watch as it makes it calmer. Similarly the editing has been well done
as the clips become faster towards the end to show that it was ending. However
at the end with Justin Timberlake performing in a room of mirrors with half
dressed women, made you forget about the rest of the video as you were more
confused to why he ruined the video with a cheesy dance routine and basically
naked women with fizzy coloured wigs. Overall I think he deserved to win the prize because it was the best compared to the videos of 2013 and it had a very strong impact.
In this music video there is a lot of cut aways to different
pieces in the actual scene, for example it will cut away to an arm or a face. Also
when it cuts away it cuts to a very small section and then zooms out and I like
this affect because it goes with the music. Also the theme of the video is a
comedic 70s theme with matching red and leopard suits. With a lot of spot lights
it really goes a long with the stereotypical way a 70s video was. It is just
filmed in an indoor studio and has a very cheesy dance routine and a band.
John Newman- love me again
This music video is also an old fashioned way with a
1980s feel of a community hall get together with a romance involved as well. Has
a lot of slow motion to go with the song and the weird dances. Which makes the dancing
seem more atmospheric. Also looks like a live performance. But with a twist at
the end as the couple get hit by a van. Old fashioned like Bruno Mars' Treasure
Ellie Goulding – Burn
In the music video it isn’t the same with the old fashioned theme
but a more modern theme of reckless teenagers and parties. Loads of cutaways
and closes up of the singer singing and dancing, which sometimes looks
performed or improvised.
Conor Maynard – R U Crazy
Has a band performance like Bruno mars. But had a lot of
symbolism with his evil side having a black background etc. and his emotional
side having a white theme. He is singing to the camera and there is a party. The
story is him with a girl having a fight making up having a fight etc.
